Stay Fresh and Update Your Content Frequently.

By: Richard

As your blog evolves and the number of visitors grows, it’s important to keep true to the medium if you are to continue to attract readers and keep them coming back.  The difficult thing with a lens or blog is you are literally as good as your last post – if visitors scan the first post and it is of no interest, they will move on rapidly without really exploring the site. If you are using your lens like a blog then around 300 words is good for a posting. Not too long, something that can be easily read in 1 minute.

I have found that your blog traffic will decrease exponentially for every day you go between posts. And a lot of it will not return. It’s like spinning a plate. And the same can be true for Squidoo lenses, I imagine.

It’s interesting that the site is set up to punish you for not visiting it frequently. Or on a positive note, they reward you for coming back again and again to update your lens. I like it the idea but it’s a bit of a pain if I’m having a busy month and I don’t get the lens as often as much as I’d like.
